Swap tokens on Polygon PoS

Polygon Swap exchanges POL, USDC and tokens on Polygon PoS — the low-fee EVM network — through a non-custodial decentralized exchange, with your wallet signing every transaction.

Polygon Swap means exchanging tokens on Polygon PoS — a low-fee, EVM-compatible network — through a decentralized exchange rather than an order book. POL is the native token that pays gas, having replaced MATIC in the network migration. Swaps are non-custodial: your wallet signs, and settlement happens through public smart contracts. This is an independent dashboard and is not affiliated with Polygon Labs.

What is Polygon Swap?

Polygon Swap refers to swapping tokens on Polygon PoS through a decentralized exchange. A DEX pool quotes output from its reserves and your trade size, and your wallet authorizes the public smart-contract transaction, so no operator holds your account or keys.

POL is the native asset used to pay gas on Polygon PoS. This is an independent dashboard and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Polygon Labs; live quotes, approvals and settlement happen in the external app.

How Polygon swaps work

Connect an EVM wallet set to Polygon PoS, select the input token (for example POL) and output token (for example USDC), and enter an amount. The live app shows the route, expected output, price impact, slippage tolerance, pool fee and estimated gas before you sign.

Buying a token with native POL needs only gas; selling an ERC-20 token first needs a one-time token approval. The swap then enforces a minimum received.

POL & the MATIC migration

POL is the native gas and staking token of Polygon PoS. It replaced MATIC as the network's native token in the Polygon migration, so balances and gas are now denominated in POL. POL also secures the network through validator staking.

Because the ticker changed, older tools and pools may still reference MATIC. Confirm you are holding and quoting POL on Polygon PoS, and verify the token contract before sizing a trade.

Polygon PoS network

Polygon PoS is an EVM-compatible network known for low fees and fast blocks, so standard wallets like MetaMask connect and gas is paid in POL. Popular DEXs on the network include QuickSwap and Uniswap-style automated market makers.

Add Polygon PoS to your wallet and hold POL for gas. A swap stays on Polygon PoS; moving tokens to Ethereum or another chain requires a separate bridge transaction.

Fees, gas & price impact

A swap's cost is the DEX pool fee, network gas paid in POL, and price impact from available liquidity. Gas on Polygon PoS is typically very low, but thin pools can still push price impact up on larger orders.

Selling an ERC-20 can add a one-time approval transaction. Compare expected output and minimum received against the fee display, and keep enough POL for approval and swap.

Is it safe?

Swaps are non-custodial but carry real risk, and Polygon PoS lists many low-liquidity tokens. Read the notices below before you trade.

Not affiliated with Polygon Labs
This is an independent, informational resource and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Polygon Labs. Swaps carry smart-contract, broad-approval, liquidity and phishing risks, and Polygon PoS hosts many low-liquidity tokens — confirm the token contract before trading.
Verify before you sign
Verify the network is Polygon PoS, the token contract you are receiving, the pool, the spender, the allowance amount, the expected output and the minimum received before approving.

Swap problems & fixes

Polygon swap failures usually trace to a network mismatch, too little POL for gas, a missing approval when selling a token, thin liquidity, or a quote that moved before confirmation.

  • Wrong network: set both wallet and app to Polygon PoS, then rebuild the quote.
  • No gas: keep enough POL for the swap and any approval.
  • MATIC vs POL: the native token is now POL — make sure your wallet reflects the migration.
  • Missing approval: when selling an ERC-20, wait for the approval to confirm and verify its spender.
  • Reverted transaction: refresh the route, since minimum received or pool state may have changed.

Polygon Swap FAQ

What is Polygon Swap?

Polygon Swap refers to swapping tokens on Polygon PoS — a low-fee EVM network — through a DEX. POL is the native gas token, and swaps are non-custodial. This is an independent dashboard and is not affiliated with Polygon Labs.

What is POL?

POL is the native gas and staking token of Polygon PoS. It replaced MATIC as the network's native token in the Polygon migration, and it pays for gas and secures the network through validator staking.

How do I swap on Polygon?

Connect an EVM wallet set to Polygon PoS, choose the input token such as POL and the output token such as USDC, review the route, and sign. Buying a token with native POL needs only gas; selling an ERC-20 needs a one-time approval.

What does a swap on Polygon cost?

The DEX pool fee, network gas paid in POL, and price impact. Gas on Polygon PoS is typically very low. Selling an ERC-20 can add a one-time approval transaction.

Is swapping on Polygon safe?

Swaps are non-custodial but carry smart-contract, approval, liquidity and phishing risks, and Polygon PoS hosts many low-liquidity tokens. Verify the network, the token contract, the pool and minimum received before signing. Not investment advice.

Do I need POL on Polygon?

Yes. Gas on Polygon PoS is paid in POL, so you need a small POL balance to approve and execute swaps. Bridge assets to Polygon PoS or acquire POL first if your balance is on another network.

Notes before you swap on Polygon

Confirm the app and network. This resource is independent and not affiliated with Polygon Labs, so always check you are on the intended app and on Polygon PoS. Before you sign:
  • Confirm the wallet is on Polygon PoS and holds POL for gas.
  • Verify the token contract you are receiving and the pool for your pair.
  • Read the price impact and minimum received; reduce size on a thin pool.
